Initial ideas about titling

When it came to thinking of names for our short film, we came up with a few ideas that we could work with, such as 'Game of Chance' as well as others, however our best idea was actually based on one of the squares from the board game, and that was 'Advance to Go'. This could also suggest a hidden meaning, as the players in the game want to advance further in the game so that they have the possibility of getting more money from the game.

For the titling stages of our film, we are aiming to have some sort of animation to emphasise the idea of wanting to advance through the game. This could involve one of the monopoly pieces moving past the square or something like the arrow from the square to move around the square.
By doing this, it would give our film a good, professional start to the film; a good platform for our film to follow on. This is essential, as by having an interesting start it will attract the audience and make them want to continue to watch the film.

Our aim is that the title will give the audience a slight suggestion of what the genre of the film is which would help them gain a quick understanding of what the film may be about. Another major part of the titling sequence is that it 'does what it says on the tin'. By that I mean it needs to give the audience a quick understanding of what the film is about, and whether or not it suggests another different about the film, e.g any sub-genres.

By having the familiar image of the monopoly square, it will also help attract audiences as they will be aware of the popular, family board game and so will be interested in a film based on it, and so by doing this it can attract our particular target audience, as well as perhaps a new target audience as we hope to portray the film as having a sinister twist in the opening titles.
